The New-York Magazine was a favorite place for Henry to publish. Several volumes of the magazine that were owned by Henry are now in the collection of the New York Public Library's Special Collections.

Like Henry's rhyme schemes, Henry's writing style is all over the place. He writes religious pieces, humor pieces, straight reporting, and songs. Two of Henry's prose pieces seem inspired by the writing of Paul Henri Mallet's Northern Antiquities, which was published in London by T. Carnan & Co. in 1770.

Both of Henry's stories have a bit of the "ghost story told around the campfire" feeling.
